What is Zumba?

         Zumba is a fusion of Latin and International music – dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system!  The routines feature aerobic / fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body.  Zumba utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning.  It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps.

What makes us different than other Zumba classes?

        Our health-care instructors specialize in corrective functional movement patterns.  Our goal is to achieve a full 60 minute party while executing proper alignment of the body.   This not only helps to isolate target muscles but more importantly, prevent injury!  We modify all movements (dance steps) to the individual.  No pressure to keep up.  Work at your own pace and see the change in you!

       As a Physical Therapist, I have evaluated many injuries due to Zumba. As a Zumba instructor, I am disheartened by this.  Zumba when executed properly should help to increase strength, improve cardiovascular components and decrease the risk of injury.
