Melissa is a proud licensed Physical Therapist with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from CUNY’s College of Staten Island/Graduate Center in 2010. During her studies, she was an intern with Volunteers of America where she gained experience and knowledge in treating children between the ages of 3-5 years old who presented with developmental delays. Through an acute-care affiliation at the world-renowned Hospital for Special Surgery located in Manhattan, Melissa was privileged to work with post-surgical orthopedic patients, primarily total hip and knee replacements. Melissa has accepted a part time position at her alma mater as an Assistant Adjunct Professor within the Physical Therapy program teaching a kinesiology lab class. Melissa has been around girl’s basketball on Staten Island for over 10 years and continues to provide assistance to one of our local high schools for proper warm-up routines. Most recently, Melissa has been very excited with her newest expansion of her career; she has become involved with the United States Rhythmic Gymnastics team. In 2014, she was asked to travel to Stuttgart, Germany, for a World Cup competition and then later in the year to Ontario, Canada for Pan-American Games where at both events she was honored to be the treating Physical Therapist for USA’s Rhythmic team! She is currently working with National Team members on a regular basis to provide assistance and guidance with strength/stability training, injury prevention and treating any impairments/injuries they are experiencing. Melissa plans to continue to expand her knowledge, skills, and involvement within the community so that she may continue to provide the best care for all of her patients.
