James graduated from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia earning both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Physical Therapy degree. In 2003 after graduating James passed the National Physical Therapy Examination and became a board certified Physical Therapist. James has a strong passion for Sports Orthopedic Physical Therapy. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association sports and orthopedic sections along with the Hip special interest group. In 2010, James earned the prestigious recognition as a certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). Only 6 % of Physical Therapists in the United States hold this certification.

James believes in treating the body as a whole. He examines functional human movement breaking down the poor and dysfunctional movement patterns to find the true deficits and causes of injury. James utilizes evidence based practice, functional movement assessment, advanced manual therapy techniques, and corrective exercise in order to optimize results for his patients. James has extensive clinical experience treating hip disorders in athletes. His subspecialty includes treating patients with the diagnosis of: hip labrum tear, femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), hip arthroscopic surgery, core muscle injuries, and athletic pubalgia/repair. In 2013, James was credentialed by the world renowned Hospital for Special Surgery as an Advanced Hip Clinician. He works closely with top hip surgeons in the tri state area to provide the highest of care for this patient population.

James actively pursues advanced certifications and continuing education courses on a yearly basis. He has knowledge and experience utilizing Shirley Sahrmann’s concept of movement impairment syndromes and Stanley Paris’s manual therapy techniques when treating patients. James is a certified Kinesio-taping practitioner (CKTP), and an Active Release Technique (ART) provider (spine certified). He is also level 1 certified in the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Functional Movement Screen (FMS), and the Y balance Test. James has a strong clinical and research interest in return to sport testing of the collegiate and high school injured athlete. He utilizes a specialized software to provide information on when an athlete is ready to safely return to his/her sport. Outside of work, James enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children.
